Features

The recommended channel mapping is a starting point; check it against the connected machine before printing.

Yink Studio supports Windows 10/11 and macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon and Intel. Install Windows through Microsoft Store. The macOS installer is pending notarization and upload; check the download page for availability.

Current workflow features

• Import images and multi-page PDFs; manage pages, layout, arrays, mirror, white ink, and layer order in one project. All pages share the project print settings.
• Printer instances and user presets retain their identity. Unavailable or incompatible presets are preserved; select a compatible replacement before output.
• Use ICC soft proofing and matched ink calibration. Unprofiled CMYK shows an output-ICC bypass warning; unprofiled RGB is treated as sRGB. A preview does not replace a printed sample.
• Browser-approved device sign-in uses a short code. Windows updates follow Microsoft Store; check the download page for macOS release availability.
• On macOS, native File menus, project saving, recent-project access, and save/discard/cancel on quit support continued project work.
• The drop-size fine-scan panel compares available droplet sizes for a selected channel and imports a test chart. Open About and click its logo ten times, with no more than two seconds between clicks; this is a calibration aid.

Output and preview

Windows queues and macOS USB/Bonjour direct connections receive prepared rows while Yink Studio continues processing. macOS system RAW queues receive a complete PRN file before submission. Acceptance by a queue or connection does not prove that physical printing has finished.

• Prepare white ink with mode, threshold, density, choke, mirror, and layer order.
• Use soft-proof preview, then confirm actual output with a sample.
• Mapped physical channels output zero when their mapping is Off or unavailable.

Presets and projects

Printer, ink, and quality presets are layered. System presets are read-only.

Connections and output

On Windows, select the exact installed printer queue. On macOS, Add printer defaults to eligible system RAW queues; explicitly choose the direct connection group for USB or Bonjour TCP RAW. An AirPrint/IPP queue alone does not establish RAW compatibility. Saved printers keep their exact device binding; changing groups does not migrate existing printers.

Print to File saves PRN independently of device availability and keeps the saved connection. Hoson-class custom output uses TCP RAW or a file, requires Ultra access, and does not use a system printer queue. Obtain the host and port from the device administrator; 127.0.0.1:9100 is the default, not a discovered printer.

Printer maintenance

Supported Epson profiles, including SC-P600, expose nozzle checks, head cleaning, and power cleaning when declared by the profile. Verify the selected device and connection before sending. Windows queues, macOS system RAW queues, and USB/Bonjour direct connections all support these manual operations.

On Windows and macOS, white-area cleaning runs after all copies of a physical job have been sent and the accumulated white area exceeds the configured threshold. Print to File does not add area; 0 disables the area trigger. Supported built-in Epson profiles default to timed cleaning every 8 hours; set the interval to 0 to disable it. Saved intervals, including 0, are preserved. Timed cleaning runs only while the app is open with that printer selected. Automatic cleaning requires an online device when sending; offline, paused, or unknown status defers cleaning and preserves the timer and accumulated area.

For automatic cleaning, macOS system RAW queues also check queue status and the actual device connection. Manual maintenance can be held by the system queue while the device is offline. Successful submission or direct transfer does not prove that cleaning has finished. Cleaning consumes ink and waste-ink capacity; power cleaning requires separate confirmation.
