Quickstart
Create a small, verifiable first output before starting production.
For a first job, follow this order: printer, connection, channel mapping, ink, and quality; then artwork and process; then preview; then print.
Yink Studio supports Windows 10/11 and macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon and Intel. Install Windows through Microsoft Store. The macOS installer is pending notarization and upload; check the download page for availability.
Before you start
- Connect a supported printer and prepare matching ink and media.
- For Hoson-class / custom, obtain the controller TCP RAW host and port from the device administrator.
Sign in with the purchase email to activate paid access.
Create your first job
- Add a printer; select the device and connection; configure channel mapping; select ink and print quality.
- Import the image and adjust process settings.
- Verify the preview.
- Print.
Do not guess a preset
Ink has no default. Do not output when an exact calibration is missing. The preset ink channel mapping is the recommended mapping for the selected printer profile. On a four-channel machine, the white physical channel is fixed and cannot be changed. The client locks the white-channel slots declared by the selected driver profile in Add printer and the printer preset editor.
Choose the correct output path
On Windows, select the exact installed printer queue. On macOS, Add printer defaults to eligible system RAW queues; explicitly choose the direct connection group for USB or Bonjour TCP RAW. An AirPrint/IPP queue alone does not establish RAW compatibility. Saved printers keep their exact device binding; changing groups does not migrate existing printers.
Print to File saves PRN independently of device availability and keeps the saved connection. Hoson-class custom output uses TCP RAW or a file, requires Ultra access, and does not use a system printer queue. Obtain the host and port from the device administrator; 127.0.0.1:9100 is the default, not a discovered printer.
Verifiable first-output checklist
- The printer configuration exactly matches the physical device.
- Ink, media, and resolution presets are explicitly compatible.
- Page size, orientation, mirror, and layer order are correct in preview.
- Physical channels and white ink were checked one by one.
- A small sample has acceptable color, white ink, position, and media feed.
- Epson Feathering is enabled only when shown as supported; Hoson Feathering is confirmed on the controller.
